The Azores Autonomous Region intends to invest in the modernisation and digitisation of public administration, aiming to provide a public administration that is fit for the future, more proactive, inclusive and open, providing more agile public services, promoting collaboration and co-creation with citizens, academe and Azorean companies, and enhancing investment in qualification, innovation, experimentation and new and emerging digital technologies, to better underpin the resilience of the region’s society and economy, through the following lines of action:

•  “APR + Accessible, Inclusive and Open” investment Programme;
•  “APR + More agile services” investment programme;
•  “APR + Proactive” Investment Programme;
•  Digital infrastructure in Regional Public Administration – Mobile.GOV;
•  “APR + Fit for the Future” Investment Programme.

This investment will also provide greater mobility to Regional Public Administration employees, which will reinforce the resilient and agile response capacity of regional public services and provide excellent technological conditions for mobility and remote working, given that the user will enjoy exactly the same virtual environment in any location that is available at their normal place of work. To contribute towards this goal, a centralised technological solution for virtualised working environments (VDI – Virtual Desktop Infrastructure), called MOBILE.GOV, will be created and hosted on the AzoresCloud platform, which will go into production in 2022. Additionally, the centralised management of virtual working environments will also allow the implementation of standardised policies and procedures for resource management and data protection, rationalising operating costs and enhancing the quality of user support.
