i05: Decarbonisation of Public Transport (48 M€)
Despite improvements in recent years, the average age of public transport fleets in Portugal is high (more than 15 years) and there are few environmentally sustainable vehicles. The aim of this investment is to promote the launch of a support programme for the acquisition of clean buses for public road transport and the respective charging/fuelling stations, with the public transport operators in charge of the procedures involved in the acquisition of these vehicles.
The planned investment for the acquisition of clean vehicles (145 buses), promoting the renewal of fleets, will have an important impact on the promotion of the use of public transport, as well as on decarbonisation and support for energy transition, through the reduction of GHG emissions and the increased incorporation of renewable energies in the transport sector.
The Environmental Fund is the body responsible for managing investment from the Recovery and Resilience Plan for the Decarbonisation of Public Transport.
