With the “Azores – Digital Education” project, the Azores Autonomous Region seeks to ensure access to the “information society”, promote equal opportunities and establish improvements in ways of learning, fostering skills development for new generations of Azoreans to better equip them for the digital age, providing for the acquisition of equipment, connectivity and licences to be made available to public schools and, in the Plan for Qualification and Capacity Building in the Azores Education System, to generate changes in teaching practices and training dynamics, focusing on the quality of student learning, promoting the professional development of teachers and mobilising the educational community and social partners.

Among others, the following actions will be promoted:

•  Acquisition of 20,000 mobile digital devices;
•  Acquisition of interactive screens for 330 classrooms across the Region;
•  Design and development of 10 MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) for Teachers and 10 MOOCs for Parents.
